BPC-157 is a synthetic fragment of a protein originally isolated from human gastric juice. It has become one of the most discussed peptides in performance medicine — and one of the most misunderstood.
What the evidence supports
Animal studies consistently show BPC-157 accelerates healing of tendon, ligament, muscle, and gut tissue. It appears to upregulate growth factors and improve local blood flow at the site of injury. For patients with chronic tendinopathies — runner's knee, tennis elbow, Achilles issues — anecdotal results in clinical practice have been compelling.
What we still don't know
Large human trials are limited. Long-term safety data is still being built. This is why responsible use means physician supervision, conservative cycling, and clear treatment goals — not indefinite self-administration based on a Reddit thread.
Who tends to benefit
Patients with a defined musculoskeletal injury that hasn't resolved with standard care, or athletes managing repetitive overuse syndromes, are typical candidates. It is not a general-purpose wellness peptide, and we don't prescribe it as one.
